These Thai lessons are more general in nature and are targeted at students who have a whole range of different needs. While all beginners level students can expect to cover Survival Thai—required for short visits to a country where English may not be spoken and/or the intention is to make good contacts with the local population—students then generally progress in different directions depending on their needs. Typical students include those buying property overseas, spouses of overseas nationals, people about to set off on that long-awaited world trip, Thai-culture enthusiasts and those who are keen to pass a particular Thai examination. These lessons in Thai are meant for those who feel that learning Thai would make a change in their work. For starters, it is expedient to learn how to say hello/goodbye, as well as basic business protocol; once the basics have been mastered, reading and writing come to the fore. Students who have greatly benefited have been involved in import/export, international negotiations and acquisitions, jobseekers in multinational companies where another language is required and those working in the international academia and government circuits. Even in our most fundamental beginner's lesson, students can anticipate ending the lesson with basic telephone Thai and e-mail Thai skills for communicating, as well as survival Thai if a short visit to the country is needed. Lessons in Thai are also accessible for 2 or more studying in tandem (Two-to-One Thai Lessons or Small Group In-Company Thai Lessons). All those involved must have around the same experience of the language, similar needs for areas of proficiency, and must be able to work at the same time and place. Bookings must be made for all students at the same time. Listen & Learn does not advise classes of more than 6-8 people, although In-Company Taster Thai sessions can be run with as many as 12 people. Classes can take place on any day of the week—even weekends—morning, afternoon or evening. If meeting at your office or home is not suitable, you can take your lessons at the trainer's office. Those wishing to learn Thai in groups of two or more together (Two-to-One Thai Lessons or Small Group In-Company Thai Lessons) can sign up for our group classes. All students must be at nearly the same level of Thai proficiency, have the same needs from the language and be able to study at the same time and place as the others. Bookings must be made for all students simultaneously. Listen & Learn does not propose group sizes of more than 6-8 people, but In-Company Taster Thai Lessons can occur with up to 12 people.
